About Image Tools
Simple image tools. No signup.
Image Tools started from a simple frustration: most online image utilities make you create an account, wait for an upload, sit through ads before you can even see a button, or install software just to compress a single photo. We wanted something that just works — upload, process, download, done.
So that's what Image Tools is: a small, focused set of utilities for the everyday image jobs people actually run into — shrinking a photo before emailing it, resizing something for Instagram, turning a screenshot into a PDF, converting a scanned document into images you can paste somewhere. No account, no email address, no software to install.
How the tools actually work
Every tool on this site runs entirely inside your web browser using the Canvas API and, for a couple of the more advanced tools, a JavaScript library called pdf.js for reading PDF pages. When you drop in an image or a PDF, nothing gets uploaded to a server — your browser decodes the file, does the compression, resizing, cropping or conversion math locally, and hands you back a new file built entirely on your own device.
This is different from most "online" tools, which quietly upload your file to a server, process it there, and send back the result — a round trip that costs you time, costs the tool owner server bills, and means your file left your device even if only briefly. Because we skip that step, Image Tools works offline once a page has loaded once, handles files instantly regardless of your upload speed, and never has your photos or documents pass through anyone else's servers.
What we believe
Tools should be instant. No queues, no waiting for uploads, no processing spinners that take minutes.
Privacy should be the default. Your photos are yours. Every tool that touches an image or PDF file processes it locally — see our Privacy Policy for the specifics.
Simple beats powerful. We're not trying to replace Photoshop or Acrobat. Each tool does one job, does it well, and gets out of your way.
Honest limits, not silent failures. Because everything runs on your device, very large files or very high page-count PDFs can be slower or hit your browser's memory limits. We say so on each tool page rather than letting it fail without explanation.
What's here today
The current lineup covers the most common everyday image jobs: compressing a photo down to a target file size, resizing to an exact pixel size or a social media preset, converting between JPG, PNG and WebP, cropping to any ratio, turning a batch of photos into a single PDF, and pulling the pages back out of a PDF as JPG or PNG images. If you're not sure which image format to use in the first place, our JPG vs PNG vs WebP guide walks through the real differences.
