Why use our Image Compressor?
Large photos slow down websites, fill up phone storage and make emails bounce. Our compressor shrinks JPG, PNG and WebP images while keeping them looking sharp, so you can share, upload or store them faster. Unlike most online compressors, everything runs locally in your browser — no upload, no wait, no privacy risk.
Use Quality mode when you want manual control over the compression level, or use Compress to Size when you have a hard limit — like a 1 MB upload cap on a job application form or a marketplace listing. The tool automatically searches for the highest quality that still fits your target.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does compressing an image reduce its quality?
A small amount of quality is traded for a smaller file size, but our compressor is tuned to keep visual quality as high as possible at every setting. At Medium or High quality most people can't tell the difference from the original.
What's the difference between Quality mode and Compress to Size?
Quality mode lets you pick how aggressive the compression is with a slider. Compress to Size instead lets you choose a target file size (like under 1 MB) and the tool automatically finds the highest quality that fits that size.
Can I compress PNG images?
Yes. PNG is a lossless format, so the quality slider has limited effect, but the tool still re-encodes the file and can downscale it to hit a target size. For maximum size reduction on photos, converting to JPG or WebP usually works better.
Is there a file size limit?
The tool works with files up to about 40 MB, depending on your device's available memory, since everything is processed locally in your browser.
Are my images uploaded to a server?
No. Compression happens entirely in your browser using the Canvas API. Your image never leaves your device.
Can I compress multiple images at once?
This tool compresses one image at a time so you can fine-tune the result for each photo. Use "Compress another image" to process more.
