Why convert WebP to JPG?
WebP is fast and efficient on the modern web, but some older software, printers and design tools still expect a JPG. Converting gives you a universally compatible file you can drop into any workflow without compatibility surprises.
The conversion happens locally using the Canvas API, so it's instant and your image never leaves your device.
What actually changes
The converted JPG will usually be a bit larger than the original WebP file for the same visual quality, since WebP's lossy compression tends to be more efficient. That's a fair trade when the destination — an older photo editor, a print shop's upload form, or a platform that flat-out rejects WebP — simply won't accept the original format. If your WebP had a transparent background, that transparency is lost in the JPG (filled with white); for a transparent result, convert to PNG instead. More detail in our JPG vs PNG vs WebP guide.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why convert WebP to JPG?
Some older apps, printers and editing tools still don't accept WebP. Converting to JPG gives you a file that opens everywhere.
Will I lose quality converting WebP to JPG?
There is a small quality trade-off since JPG is also a lossy format, but our converter uses a high default quality (92%) that keeps the difference barely noticeable.
What happens to a transparent WebP?
JPG doesn't support transparency, so any transparent areas in your WebP are filled with white in the resulting JPG.
Is this WebP to JPG converter free?
